Andres Iniesta believes Barcelona are this season starting anew under new Coach Luis Enrique.
The midfielder has told a Press conference that the aim for the team has to be to remember what it’s like to enjoy their football, welcomed the appointment of his old teammate, and touched on the future of Xavi Hernandez.
Iniesta also discussed the signing of Luis Suarez and the potential of two more new faces – Rafinha, who has moved to the Barca first team after a year under Enrique at Celta Vigo, and Alen Halilovic, the Croatian teenager signed from Dinamo.
“We started from scratch [this summer]. There have been changes in every way. The vision and the desire to make a great year are very high, maximum,” Sport reports Iniesta as saying.
“We have always embraced challenges. We want to win all the trophies and get a good feeling from the start. We’re excited to once again enjoy playing as a team.
“Every team has been reinforced. These days if you don’t do things well it’s very difficult to win.
“La Liga will be fought for until the end. Real Madrid are being well reinforced and Atletico Madrid are the current champions. We’ll see what happens. We’ll try to have a great season.
“I shared a locker room [with Enrique]. We have had a good relationship. I’m delighted he’s here because he has things clear.
“In the end the players have to believe in the Coach and, as he says, what he wants to do.”
Iniesta added that after a disappointing World Cup, he is looking to have a much better time in the new season.
“Every season has its best and worst moments. The World Cup was not very good,” he continued.
“I tried to relax on holiday, charge the batteries for a season that excites me a lot.
“I like doing things well on a personal level and on a team level. When you come from a bad year, you just want to improve.”
