Jordi Roura has downplayed his position as interim head Coach at Barcelona as nothing more than what is required as part of his job.
Roura was labelled a hero by club President Sandro Rosell this week for having stepped in for Tito Vilanova this season since the Coach’s second diagnosis of throat cancer.
“I am grateful for those words, but it’s my job, it is the situation that we have,” Roura commented in today’s Press conference in reflection of Rosell’s words.
“I follow a line of work, whether in victory or defeat. We want to be at the highest level for the absence so that the absence of Tito is less noticeable.
“What is said about me does not affect me. I know very well this environment. There will be people for everything. We have a very clear line of work since Tito has been absent.
“Crisis? The club is well. I have been here a long time and when we win the euphoria is excessive and when we lose the negativity is huge.
“We have 12 games and the League is not yet won. The game against Deportivo is very important. We must be very focused. Our objective is to keep fighting each week to win this league.
“We all want to come back against Milan. We had a long week but the team’s response is extraordinary, and that makes you think we have a chance.
“Messi, all of them, they are very competitive and when things do not work out, the group is downbeat for two days, but no more.
“I see him and the whole team as very focused going into tomorrow’s game and looking forward to overcoming Milan.
“Rosell talking to the players? He is always welcome in the dressing room. I do not know if that is what he wants. Nor should we think that when he comes in that things are bad.
“He is there. We must try again to win games and find peace.”
