Valencia have reportedly identified which of Iago Aspas’ agents are genuine and are believed to have had ‘positive’ talks over a transfer from Celta Vigo.
The striker has caught the eye of several clubs during his debut season in La Liga, whilst last week's reports linked Los Che with having edged an advantage in negotiations for his signature this summer.
Those chances were understood to have been hit this week by confusion over who in Aspas’ camp to talk to, with three individuals all assuming responsibility as his agent.
However, it is believed by Superdeporte today that Valencia’s sporting director Braulio Vazquez has picked out Iago’s brother Jonathan as the bona fide representative.
Braulio is said to have met with Jonathan Aspas to discuss a move for the Celta Vigo player and been told that Iago Aspas is equally keen on a potential deal.
However, the player is said to be eager to remain at Celta until the end of the season, when his move would become easier. Currently, Celta are pushing for full payment of his €10m buyout clause plus VAT that could push the total cost up to €15m.
Whilst Aspas has reportedly expressed his happiness to negotiate with Valencia, Los Che’s financial situation is seen as detrimental to their chances. Dynamo Kiev have reportedly already offered a €2m-a-season contract, whilst Reading are also understood to have put together an attractive offer.
Valencia’s highest paid players are few and far between reaching above the €2m mark.
