Xabi Prieto has reflected that he would happily swap his hat-trick at the Santiago Bernabeu for a draw against Real Madrid.
The 29-year-old netted three times for Real Sociedad on Sunday afternoon, but still saw his team leave with nothing.
“We had the game in our sights. It looked like we were going to get something positive out of it, but inside five minutes during the second half it was lost,” reflected the attacking midfielder, in reference to Cristiano Ronaldo’s two goals in quick succession that proved decisive.
“Ozil, Benzema and Cristiano can show up at any time and they did. Regarding me, I would swap my three goals for a draw.
“We came here to achieve something. We had possession, we were ahead, had the extra player, and in the end we lost.”
