Atletico Madrid will sell starlet to Chelsea for €50m if Julian Alvarez joins

Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signing of Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, their dream signing for the summer transfer window. A deal is likely to cost in the region of €80m, and because of this, a significant sale is sure to be required by Los Colchoneros, who have already splashed for €35m twice to sign Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sorloth in recent weeks.

The player that would be sacrificed is Samu Omorodion. That’s according to Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano, with both reporting that Atleti will look to sell the 20-year-old striker in the event that Alvarez does sign in the coming weeks. His likely destination would be Chelsea, and the two clubs are already holding negotiations.

According to Di Marzio, a deal worth €50m is being discussed by Atleti and Chelsea. It’s worth noting that Samu was signed for €6m only last summer, so it would represent a massive profit for Los Colchoneros if a deal were to take place.

It seems inevitable that Alvarez will join Atletico Madrid soon, and in turn, this will allow Chelsea to sign Samu, whom they’ve been after for most of the summer. Losing the latter is a blow for the La Liga giants, although it’s one that they are prepared to take in order to land their dream signing.
