Barcelona have had a disappointing season, but one of the bright sparks has been the emergence of several youngsters in the first team. Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi have been the big standouts, but another to have gone under the radar is Fermin Lopez, who was the first break out during pre-season when he scored against Real Madrid.
Fermin has had a fine campaign, scoring eight goals – five of these have come in La Liga, where he has only made 10 starts. The 20-year-old looks set to stay in the first team going forward, but his situation could have been so much different.
According to journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk (via MD), Rakow Czestochowa came very close to signing Fermin last summer. A deal had been proposed last April for a fee of €600k, but after a change in the coaching staff, the then-Polish champions decided against following through with the operation.

Barcelona will be incredibly thankful that the deal with Rakow collapsed. They can look forward to Fermin being an important player in their squad for many years to come.
